SHE SAID YES
HER SIDE

How We Met:

I transferred from Eastern Kentucky University to Murray State University my sophomore year of college. I was having a girls night with Alex Routen and Kirby Pittman when I asked them if they knew Brandon. They said they knew him and he was involved in the Racers for Christ ministry. In August, I knew Brandon was interning in Louisville, and I thought I would text him to introduce myself and see how it was going. I remember him telling me that he was going white water rafting at the Ocoee River, something I will probably never do, and that was the start of our first conversation. Brandon was charming and charismatic to me and everyone he meets, I knew not to let him go. After about 3-4 weeks, on August 28, 2015, of texting and talking, Brandon asked me to be his girlfriend. From there, our relationship has grown tremendously and I can't wait to be his wife.

The Proposal:

I had a gut feeling that it was coming. I didn't know exactly when, but I would have liked for it to be before Christmas. Since we were going to Brandon's work Christmas party and New York, I got my hair touched up and nails done before we headed to Nashville that Saturday. Once we go to Opryland, we walked throughout the hotel to see the Christmas lights and scenery. After enjoying our time at the Christmas party, Brandon took me down to the large Christmas tree. I immediately saw both of our parents with this big smile on their faces. I knew what was about to happen. I remember in the moment, I was shaking very badly. My legs felt like they were going to buckle. Then, these girls in the background was screaming loudly because what was happening. The moment that every girl dreams of their entire life, was about to happen to me. Brandon got down on one knee, and asked me to be his wife. I am beyond excited to begin this journey as husband and wife, with him by my side!

HIS SIDE

How We Met:

I was on my way back from my internship in Louisville and I was driving by Murray when Whitney first texted me. I remember looking down, wondering who this was. I am not the type of guy that talks to a lot of people to begin with, so when a no name came up on my phone I didn't know. I looked down, and saw Whitney Workman. I immediately looked Whitney up on Instagram. I knew who she was, but I wanted to get a second look. I was like, ok, we can try this out. We texted for a 2-3 weeks, not thinking it would turn into much. However, once school started back, we had the annual cookout at the Racers for Christ house. I remember sitting down in front of the TV watching the cardinals game with Whitney. That is the moment I knew that she was special. About a week later, I asked Whitney to be my girlfriend, and well, look where we are now!

The Proposal:

I remember planning this out for 2 months, at least. Since Austin, my best friend, had never been to Paducah, he was my excuse to go to Paducah in October to buy the ring. Whitney picked this ring out in August. She said to me that she would liked something similar to that. But, she didn't know which one I was going to get. By this time, I knew Whitney was the one and I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. On December 10, 2016, we went to The Barton Malow Christmas Party at Opryland Hotel in Nashville. Barton Malow is the company I worked for over the summer, and currently work for now. Whitney and I walked around the hotel to view all the sites and Christmas decorations, but really it was an excuse for me to pick out the perfect spot to ask her to marry me. After the Christmas party was over with that night, I took Whitney to the big Christmas tree in the hotel. I had texted our parents to let them know where to go. Once we got there, she immediately saw our parents and knew what was about to happen. At that moment, I got down on one knee and asked the love of my life to marry me. She said yes before I could get all the words out! Now, she is stuck with me for life!

THE WEDDING PARTY

Alex Routen, Maid of Honor

Alex and I met in May 2014 but we feel like we've known each other forever. We first met when Alex started attending our church through Racers for Christ. Her parents and brother also moved to University Church and became friends with my parents. I was moving back from Richmond and looking for a roommate and just so happened so was she! We lived together for a year until she graduated college. We got to know each other better, which wasn't hard since we are so much alike. We both enjoy our chick flicks, action thrillers and coffee (lots!) and love singing to our glorious God. We share a bond like sisters not many friends get to share. I wish we could have known each other when we were younger but I praise God everyday that He brought us together.

Sydney Murphy, Bridesmaid

Sydney (Murph or Syd) and I have been friends since we were babies since we are cousins, but she also been a best friend to me. From countless sleep overs, UKC cheerleading trips, Disney shows to 'Say Yes to the Dress', we have always know how too have fun together. We love each other like sisters with even a few fights like sisters through the years, but always forgive and would do anything for each other. We share multiple interest, even the same major. I am so honored to have Sydney in my life throughout the years and know we will continue to be close.

Kirby Waldrop, Bridesmaid

Kirby (or Kirbster) and I go way, way back. She is much more than family and my "big cuz." She has always been there no matter the situation. Kirby and I are so close and can always pick up where we left off. Kirby is 5 years older than me, but she and I still enjoyed our time together. Throughout our years of watching silly Disney shows, her helping me tumble as a toddler (in the house), and swimming in Lisha's pool, I have always looked up to her. Endless amounts of babysitting, driving each other crazy, and doing each others hair, being together as kids made life just a little bit sweeter. Kirby now has a beautiful daughter, Addyson, who sometimes I call mine. She is a spitting image of her mom, but has my love for taking pictures and being in front of the camera! Kirby cares so much for all her family and friends. I am grateful to have her in my life.

Morgan Douglas, Bridesmaid

Morgan (or as some people call her, Mo) and I met through Racers for Christ. She is a friend that everyone needs. From words of encouragement to sports, she always knows how to lighten the mood.

She and I traveled to LA together and ever since we have became great friends. Morgan has such a positive and uplifting energy that makes you never want to leave her presence. I can't wait to have her by my side on the big day!

Amy McDougal, Bridesmaid

Amy and I have a special relationship. Growing up we were especially close. Throughout the years we have not been as close the past few years, due to adulthood. Despite this, we still have a bond and connection where we can come back where we left off. Amy and I are so similar, but unique in our own way, it strengthens our friendship in a special way. Since I didn't have a true sister growing up, she was my sisterly cousin, that went on vacations with us. From fun times at the beach, building castles, riding four-wheeler's around the farm, to cooking with Nana, we made our childhood a memorable one.

Lindsey Scott, Bridesmaid

Although Lindsey is a cousin, she is also also one of my close friends. We can talk about anything and everything, from home decorations to new food dishes we're dying to try, we communicate great! Her bubbly personality and contagious smile makes the entire room light up. I am so excited for her to be apart of my wedding and see me walk down the aisle, like I got the opportunity to watch her!

Austin Carrillo, Best Man

Austin and I have been best friends for as long as I remember. I can still vividly remember the first day that he and his family moved on our street in our small town of Caruthersville, Missouri. Austin has been there right by my side throughout most of my life. He has been my partner in crime from day one. Being that we lived by each other throughout our childhood, we practically lived underneath the same roof. Austin and I shared many of the same interest throughout our lives, including playing baseball and hunting together. But what I admire the most about Austin is his continuous love for God, his friends, and his family. Austin has one of the biggest hearts for people that I have ever seen, and if I told you that Austin hasn’t impacted my life significantly I would be lying straight through my teeth. The way that he has carried himself throughout life has been a huge inspiration to me personally, and I am absolutely thrilled to have my brother as my best man.

Riley Hickerson, Groomsman

Riley and I met during my freshman year of high school, coincidentally, on the baseball diamond. Being that both of us were left handed and played the same positions, we instantly connected. Even though we are both hundreds of miles apart from each other now with riley pursuing his college baseball career, we talk to each other every week, keeping up and discussing our favorite sports teams. During every break that we have had, Riley and I have been alongside each other, from hunting to playing ball. One of my favorite things about Riley is the fact that no one is a stranger to him, and he is eager to meet anyone that may cross paths with him. Riley has been one of my best friends for many years, and I am honored to have him standing alongside me on my wedding day.

Jesse Rayburn, Groomsman

Jesse and I have been friends since middle school when we started playing little league baseball on the same all-star team together. Jesse is an absolutely great individual, willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone that may need it. Throughout high school, Jesse and I grew very close, doing anything and everything together. Many of my high school memories come from doing crazy and funny things with my brother. Jesse has been my main duck hunting partner over the years as he introduced the sport of duck hunting to me in high school. Anytime we are both back in the bootheel together, we spend our time knee deep in water hunting ducks. Jesse is currently serving in the United States Marine Corps. I’m honored to have

this guy standing alongside me on my wedding day.

Matt Hinklin, Groomsman

Matt is one of my longtime friends. Matt is one of the most genuine guys I know. We played baseball together in high school and we talk on a daily basis about our favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals. Matt has been alongside me for many moments of my life. If there is one person that I could always talk baseball stats with, and them actually knowing exactly what I was talking about, it would be Matt. With Matt around, there is never a dull moment. Matt has been one of my best friends for many years and I am honored to have him in my wedding.

Alex Brown, Groomsman

Alex and I met during my sophomore year of college, and he has been right there beside me since the first day that we met. Alex is one of the funniest guys that I know, as there is never a dull moment whenever he is around. Alex is one of the most kind hearted souls that I have ever met, as he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. One of the things that I admire about Alex is his love for people, and his love for the Lord. Alex and I have been apart of the Racers for Christ Ministry together, and seeing his love for the lord grow over these last 4 years has truly been Awesome. I couldn’t imagine him not being by my side on my wedding day.

Gage Workman, Groomsman

Gage is Whitney’s older brother. Gage and I share a bond sports in general, talking about all kinds of sports, especially during playoff season. Gage is graduating from Murray State University in December 2017 with an Occupational Safety and Health degree. I am looking forward to having Gage stand beside me on my wedding day and I look forward to having him as my brother-in-law.
